Hoe is dit altaar twee keer aangepast?
Dit is het Sacramentsaltaar, het altaar waarop in het tabernakel gedurende het gehele jaar de overgebleven geconsacreerde hosties (het heilig Sacrament; Lichaam van Christus) in een ciborie (liturgisch vaatwerk) worden bewaard voor de ziekencommunie of voor de aanbidding. Het is het oude hoofdaltaar uit 1739 en is hier in 1790 geplaatst, toen het nieuwe hoofdaltaar van Moretti in gebruik werd genomen. De beeldhouwer heeft het daarvoor voorzien van een tabernakel (oftewel sacramentshuis), bekroond met een kruisbeeld met Maria Magdalena.
In de 19de eeuw zijn er diverse aanpassingen aan het Sacramentsaltaar gedaan. De twee grote beelden van knielende engelen, voor het altaar, dateren uit de 19de eeuw. Ze zijn afkomstig uit een andere kerk en hier in de tweede helft van de vorige eeuw geplaatst.

How was this altar modified twice?
This is the Sacrament Altar, the altar on which the remaining consecrated hosts (the Blessed Sacrament; Body of Christ) are kept in a ciborium (liturgical vessel) in the tabernacle throughout the year for the communion of the sick or for worship. It is the old high altar from 1739 and was placed here in 1790, when Moretti’s new high altar was commissioned. Before that, the sculptor fitted it with a tabernacle (or sacrament house), crowned with a crucifix with Mary Magdalene.
Several modifications were made to the Altar of the Sacrament in the 19th century. The two large statues of kneeling angels, in front of the altar, date from the 19th century. They came from another church and were placed here in the second half of the last century.
