Wat is zo bijzonder aan het hoofdaltaar van de St. Martinuskerk?
Het huidige hoofdaltaar in de kerk dateert uit 1790. Het is een werk van de Italiaanse beeldhouwer – stukadoor Jean-Marie Moretti. Ook hier is de patroonheilige van de kerk, H. Martinus, terug te vinden, en wel op een opmerkelijke plek. Onder het kruis, aan de voeten van Christus, zijn niet zoals gebruikelijk Maria en Johannes afgebeeld. Zij staan in de nissen links en rechts van het kruis. Onder het kruis staan de kerkpatroon Sint Martinus, gekleed als bisschop en de bedelaar met de Martinus mantel.

What is so special about the high altar of St Martinus Church?
The current high altar in the church dates from 1790. It is a work by the Italian sculptor – plasterer Jean-Marie Moretti.
The church’s patron saint, Saint Martin, can also be found here, and in a remarkable place. Below the cross, at the feet of Christ, Mary and John are not depicted as usual. They are in the niches to the left and right of the cross. Below the cross are the church patron Saint Martin, dressed as a bishop, and the beggar with the Martin cloak.
