Welke dieren zijn te zien op de gewelven?
De traveeën boven de preekstoel zijn het mooist en het rijkst versierd. Ze bevatten de meeste details en zijn figuratiever. We zien hier dierfiguren die grotendeels kunnen worden geplaatst in de kerkelijke iconografie. Bijvoorbeeld een hond die een haas najaagt. De haas symboliseert de mens die aan de duivel probeert te ontkomen; een uil met een muis in zijn klauw symboliseert de duivel met een zondaar.
Een viertal bijzondere dieren vormen de symbolen van de vier evangelisten. Bij Matheus hoort de mens; bij Marcus de leeuw; bij Lucas de os en bij Johannes de adelaar. Alle vier zijn het gevleugelde wezens.

Which animals can be seen on the vaults?
The bays above the pulpit are the most beautiful and richly decorated. They contain the most details and are more figurative. Here we see animal figures that can largely be placed in church iconography. For example, a dog chasing a hare. The hare symbolises man trying to escape the devil; an owl with a mouse in its claw symbolises the devil with a sinner.
Four particular animals form the symbols of the four evangelists. With Matthew belongs the man; with Mark the lion; with Luke the ox and with John the eagle. All four are winged creatures.
